1) Santiam CI family and friends: Saturday, September 19 SCI will be hosting the Annual SCI Powwow. The early morning and afternoon visiting will be canceled. Visiting will resume for regular evening visiting.
2) Coffee Creek CF friends and family: The Fall Children’s Event is coming up the end of October. Visiting will be altered for the following dates/times:
Saturday, October 24, afternoon visiting will be canceled. Evening visiting will still take place.
Sunday, October 25, morning and afternoon visiting will be canceled. Evening visiting will still take place.
3) From DOC: Santiam Correctional Institution raised nearly $500 worth of supplies for the local Backpacks for Kids fundraiser, part of the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation (SKEF). This year was the first Backpacks for Kids fundraiser, providing school districts with supplies for students, as well as the faculty members. The adults in custody helped raise 26 backpacks full of supplies, Kleenex, notebooks, spirals, hand sanitizer, and cleaning wipes.
4) From Oregon CURE: The Oregon CURE folks in Portland have been contacted by the Founders of a new organization called “Time Does Not Fit the Crime.” They’re trying to bring new energy to the fight to appeal Measure 11 sentencing, by starting with alternative sentencing for first time offenders.
